Kerbal space program free return eve2/20/2023 ![]() ![]() Just keep trying and research the terms used in the game. There are some auto-pilot like features in MechJeb however you should not use them until you can do it manually! The autopilot is not perfect and will destroy your ship/kill everyone by hitting your target/miss the target/strand you/etc. I have found that a few of the mods (like MechJeb) are very helpful for figuring out your TWR (thrust to weight ratio) and dV (delta-V). KSP is meant to be a game about experimentation and exploration (and the accompanying innovation) to solve whatever challenges you set for yourself.Īs you have discovered, there is no autopilot (by default) in KSP, everything must be done manually.and it is a great place to start from. ![]() KSP is very much a sandbox game and does very little to hold your hand getting you to orbit, and sends you off with no guidance when it comes to what happens after you get in to orbit. What are the basics to accomplish something meaningful? Is it really worth it to pay > $20 for version 0.2 of a game or should I wait longer because the 'friendly' interface or guidance I apparently need isn't present yet? ![]() It appears as though the game is really neat or just trolls people like me who like games but don't work at NASA so subsequently can't accomplish anything. What level of actual rocket scientist/systems engineer do you need to be to have fun with this? I thought I picked the Mun as a target once and it made no difference to how my ship was guided and I had no fricken clue whatsoever about exactly what kind of thrust I needed and when. The game is opaque or I just 'don't get it' neither would surprise me. Once in orbit I did nothing useful and actually had so much ? dV ? that I was making roughly 100 day eliptical trips around the sun or something. spent 90 minutes just trying to build something that could make it into orbit. Was reading some of the thread yesterday and this game sounded neat.
